Born 15th February 1959 he holds a B. Com degree in Business Management and Economics from VISTA University and he is the Chief Executive, and co-founder of Power Matla (Pty) in 1999.
He is currently the Chairman of SGB-Smith Power Matla, a transformer manufacturing company. Kgathola participate on the board of WABTEC South Africa (WABTEC is a Fortune 500 company) and he is also a member of The Ethics & Social Committee.
He served as a Non-Executive director, on the board and sub-committees ( Finance and Risk, Social and Ethics) of numerous companies including Powertech Transformers (Pty) Ltd, Altech UEC, both ALTRON Group subsidiaries and Dorper Wind Farm.
Kgathola commands an extensive knowledge of Supply Chain Management at operational and executive level, spanning thirty(30) years in various companies Including , Eskom, SASOL, Transnet, Harmony Gold Mining, Rio Tinto. He is a former Executive Group Supply Chain Services for Pretoria Portland Cement Company Ltd.
Whilst working for the above-mentioned companies, Kgathola attended numerous Management Development Programmes, Senior Executive Programmes including The ESKOM Graduate Programme In Utility Management (1996) offered by Samford Business Global Utilities
Institute and a Certificate In Programme In Leadership Development (2005) by Wits University Graduate School Of Business Administration.
He has been instrumental in the conclusion of all business deals for Power Matla. As a result, he was exposed to and work with various corporate finance and legal advisory service providers on Power Matla deals, involving mergers and acquisitions, BBBEE ownership transactions, company valuations, equity and debt capital raising activities.
